Biography

Werner started his DJ career in the early 90s in Germany, travelling around the globe, playing to appreciative clubbers at prestigious venues such as Yellow (Tokyo), Fabric (London), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Rex Club (Paris) and Turntables on the Hudson (NYC) to name but a few.

In 1999, he created Soul Camp Recordings, an innovative house record label with production partner Sefty featuring artists like Phonique, Martin Landsky, Marc Schneider, East West Connection and many more. Not content at working on his own imprint Werner went on to work for other labels such as Liquid Sound Lounge, Sense Music and Record Of Interest and not to mention nurturing his engineering skills by working on remixes for artists like Reel People, Terry Callier, Lenny Fontana, Phonique and Robert Owens.

Werner left Berlin in 2002, and moved to Mallorca where he was resident at Pacha, Tito’s and Garito Café. After Mallorca, Werner moved to London and started working at the Flying Records store. It was whilst in London, he joined the production outfit Notenshun and worked for Chillifunk Records as a studio engineer. During that period Werner collaborated on a variety of projects with artists such as Lofty (Notenshun), Sandy Mill, Ultra Nate, Ann Saunderson, Marcus Begg and remixed the likes of Nathan Haines, Spirit Catcher, Sequential Soul, M-Swift & Diplomats Of Soul.

In 2006 Werner joined Miss Jools’s (Mobilee) monthly “Clandestino” event at Mr C’s legendary club “AKA/The End”, as a resident DJ. This was a prolific period for Werner, as he gained further recognition releasing on labels such as Phonica Records, Wandering (Mojuba), Supplement Facts, Broque, Room With A View and many more.

His fruitful output continued into 2010 securing releases and remixes on labels such as Supplemental, Boxer Recordings, Safari Numerique, Nummer Schallplatten, Broque and Bulletdodge. Adding to this a selection of remixes for Guy Gerber (Visionquest) and Pig & Dan (Cocoon).

2011 continued in the same successful fashion, having productions and remixes released on Off Recordings, Buena Onda, Compost and Kling Klong in collaboration with Varoslav and Gareth Whitehead.

2012 proved to be another productive year for Werner with several releases on labels such as Something Different Records, Tulipa Recordings, Asymmetric Recordings, Broque, Elevation Limited and collaborating with Master Seb (Affolai) for Natural Rhythm and Sun Generation Records. Also remixing Zoe Xenia (Klin Klong), Mia Wallace and Fred Siera (JETT) to name but a few.

In the few months of 2013, Werner has already released on Rue De Plaisance (France), DeNote Records (France), JETT Records (France) Headset Recordings (San Francisco) and KGBeats (Chicago).

Moreover, he has co-founded “WiN Recordings” a new underground house and techno label with Gareth Whitehead. The pair have for several years had a productive output under their Niedermeier & Whitehead guise and now have branched out further to create a bespoke label dedicated to releasing their own productions with guest remixers.

Lastly, Werner has a remix for Kevin Saunderson’s KMS Records and Flumo Recordings on the horizon, collaborating with X-Press 2 on Steve Bug’s Audiomatique together with Gareth Whitehead.
